| Sofia, Bulgaria (pronounced SEW-fee-uh, stress on the first syllable) is full of things to do, places to eat and has an ethnic diversity not apparent in the rest of the country. Of course, all the embassies are here. However, it was always a treat to visit as it has a fantastic sampling of Bulgaria's history and culture. As volunteers, we often stayed at a youth hostel a short walk from the Peace Corps office. Paulina and her mom always treated us like family (and gave us a discount!). Either way, we were always welcome as it became our home away from home where we could kick back and relax, or enjoy a cup of tea hanging out with her whole (real!) family. Oh - and yes, that really is Dean Cain (Superman!). We ran into him at Murphy's Irish Pub - nice guy, actually - and oh so hot! |
