| Ile de la Cité - home of the Notre Dame cathedral, the Conciergerie and the Sainte-Chapelle. In front of the Notre Dame is Point Zero - the starting point for all the highways in France. It was also the starting point of our vacation. Mom had never been to Paris before, so after we checked in to our hotel, we hopped the metro and came into the city. I had us get out at the St. Michel station so we could walk by some shops and cafes. After a few blocks, I told Mom to look right. She did and the first thing she saw was this - the Notre Dame. She'd wanted to travel there for so long that it brought tears to her eyes. What a great moment! On our last day in Paris, the weather was gorgeous - a perfect fall day. We spent a lot of time in the area in front of the Notre Dame listening to various musicians and just taking it all in. It was wonderful and neither one of us wanted to go, but alas, all good things must come to an end! |
