Back in June 2008, I started having monthly potlucks at my house. I decided to call them my Potlucks for Pandering Political Punditry. Can't help it - love alliteration. Anyway, I have invited a lot of friends to my house for a potluck dinner and an evening of presidential politics. The idea is for all of us to gather in a friendly environment where we won't be embarrassed to ask any kinds of questions. By that same token, we can all chime in about issues we know more about. The idea is also for us all to simply discuss issues that are important to all of us - as Americans. I've had a pretty diverse showing of friends here - Democrats, and I plan to continue them through the election. Always the 2nd Saturday of the month, the next two potlucks are scheduled for September 13 and October 11. What's pretty cool, is that we may have OH 15th Congressional candidate, Mary Jo Kilroy at the one in September. I'm working with the campaign folks on that one, so stay tuned for updates as I'd love for her to be able to make it!
Gotta take a good group shot! This was from my July potluck. (Sorry - didn't pull out the camera for the August potluck, though we did have a great discussion on Latin American politics and how they can affect us here. Boy I have a lot of smart friends!
It all started off because my friends at work tossed out the idea that we all get together outside of work because a lunch hour just isn't a long enough time to really discuss some of the issues facing us all today. So - I offered up my place for a venue and now a political potluck tradition has been started! These first shots are from the potluck in June - the one that got it all started!
