Getting ready for weekend canvassing
This year's election is exciting!  More people than ever are getting involved in the electoral process, which is
awesome!  For my part, I'm devouring every article on the Internet and am prone to watching a lot of C-Span!!  Yes,
it's true.  Yeah, I figured it was time to take it to the next level and get out of the house.  So, I called the HQ and they
got me in touch with the campaign offices at the SEIU building near my house.  Thus far, I've helped organize meals
and provide support for all the folks canvassing neighborhoods & working the phone banks.  The best part is sitting
down and discussing issues with folks from all over the country who have come here to Ohio to volunteer for Barack
Obama's Campaign.

For the folks working the campaign, help yourselves to these pictures.  If you want one that's full sized,
Email me and I
can send it to you.  These have been shrunk down to about 1200x900.  This first section of pictures is from Friday,
February 29!  Take care!  YES WE CAN!!!

Reacting to something...!
Score 1 for Obama!  Here I am exiting the polling
booths at the St. James Lutheran Church polling
location.  Note how all our arms and legs are quite
wet from having been out in the rain.  BRR!

Election day is finally here!  To get the day started, we met at the office at 645 am - yes, 645 in the morning!  We started the day with a visibility march.
What does that mean?  Well - it meant that we drove out to intersections around the city (33/Grandview was ours) and hold up signs.  No problem,
right?  Well...it was cold and pouring down rain.  That's ok, we did it anyway!  Thank goodness for rain ponchos!  Yeah - we were all soaked from the
knees and elbows down, but the energy was definitely there!

After hanging out on street corners in the rain, I went to my polling location along with my entourage - well, 4 new friends from DC.  They cheered me
on as I came out after having cast my vote for Obama!  Good to have your own cheering section!

After that, we canvassed neighborhoods - again, in the rain! - we worked the phone banks, helped out at the offices, etc.  We had several visitors
throughout the day - including Columbus Mayor Coleman and at one point (I missed this) actor Blair Underwood.  He canvassed neighborhoods, too!

While we didn't win the primary in Ohio, we pretty much stayed as ahead as we were in delegates before the day's elections.
Election day!
This is Josh - on election day, he drove a
voter to her polling location - 9 miles away!
...no shoes, uphill, both ways...  Well - it
makes for a good, if not overly dramatic,
story anyway!
