Barack Obama - Presidential Campaign 2008 - Ohio Democrats - Mary Jo Kilroy
Kilroy for Congress - OH 15th
Campaign Kickoff - June 25, 2008

I've volunteered a few times for the Kilroy for Congress campaign.  After the March Primary election, it
was kind of a letdown in that I'd spent so many hours campaigning for Obama that I didn't know what to
do with my time that had all of a sudden freed up.

So - I filled out the volunteer form on the
Kilroy Campaign website and received a call back to help with
a mailing about a fundraiser.  I went in and stuffed envelopes.  I also took the time to write up a bunch of
ideas about the website.  They told me that they are using some of them so I'm excited about that.  Hey
- I couldn't go in during the day, but I could at least contribute.  When I started my potlucks, Tyler, the
finance guy for Kilroy, happily showed up.  He handed me flyers and promoted Kilroy's campaign
kickoff taking place later that month.  I went to the Kickoff and had a good time - especially since I had a
chance to actually meet Mary Jo.  I met her again a couple of weeks later when we all walked in the very
wet July 4th parade (has it rained at all since then?  Looking at our yards I'd have to say no!).  Of
course...that parade had some excitement.  While a few of us were waiting at the end of the parade
route - at a gas station - a weird-looking car from the parade pulled in - smoke pouring out from under
the hood.  Well - as soon as it stopped, it burst into flames.  We all just RAN like the wind to the other
side of the station.  Somehow - having our own movie set where cars go up in flames - isn't nearly as
exciting as seeing it in the movies!    Car in flames...gas station...not a good combination.  Oh well - it
added to the excitement of the day!  I don't have parade pictures since it was raining, but I do have
some from the campaign kickoff with the Cornhole tournament.  Hmm...Campaign staff members won.
Think it was rigged?  I don't know.  I'm just a volunteer!  :-) (just kidding!)

Enjoy the pictures!

Oh - while I was playing cornhole, I gave my camera to Tyler to take pictures around the room.  He and
another staffer went around snapping shots, so I didn't really know what I had until I got home.  From
what I can tell, all the folks working on this campaign - staffers, interns, fellows - you name it - all get
along really well.  It was fun to watch them interact.  I noticed the same at the July 4th parade as well.
What a fun group of people.  I'm sure Mary Jo is going to win the election this fall since she has a great
group of people working for her!
Not so sure about this
one - I blame Tyler!
The cookout - before people started getting a tad soaked!  Oh - check out the poor, lonely cornhole board!
Like any good campaign organization, there was a well-planned Plan B in place!  The cookout was moved indoors - so was the cornhole
tournament.  Hey - it's good to be prepared!  I think everyone had a good time - regardless of how wet some of us became!
Well - somebody had to hold down the fort!
And finally - the exciting cornhole tournament!
questions, comments or
whatever (feel free to
say hi!)  I'd love to hear
from you!
