Heather

Sunday, August 31 - we decided to canvass my and other neighborhoods.  For the Obama portion of
the day, we were hitting mine and therefore staged the day out of my house.  We also teamed up,
however, with canvassers for
Ted Celeste (State House), Danielle Blue (State Senate), Mary Jo Kilroy
(U.S. House) and
Shawn Dingus (Judge).  That means, that we all had info on each and every
candidate to hand out to people and to discuss at their doors.  In my neighborhood, there were four of
us canvassing, so I split the neighborhood in half.  Jeanne and Emmanuel were a pair and I teamed up
with Ernest, the campaign manager for the Dingus campaign.  Ernest was cool - served in the Navy
and had some really great information for folks.  I had the Obama info - he had the local info, so we
made a good team!

One thing I especially enjoyed about today was the opportunity to meet some of my neighbors face to
face. Personally, I think people are usually pretty receptive when we knock on their doors, but I also
think they were especially so when I started each conversation with "Hi - I'm Heather and I live down the
street..."  Lots of Democrats in the neighborhood I'm learning.  Lots of new people to invite to my
potlucks, too!
